DJI Mavic Pro

The DJI Mavic Pro Snapshot

The Mavic Pro is hands down an amazing drone.  The features of this quad-copter are very cool, from stability, flight range, flight time, camera, obstacle avoidance, flight follow, and much more. From the minute I pulled this drone out of the box I was excited. The only trouble I encountered was some firmware update issues. Figuring out those issues was a quick easy fix with DJI customer service. I honestly think this is a great drone for customers who want to start taking good videos with a reliable state of the art drone.  Customers can buy the DJI Mavic Pro here in our webpage.

PROS

Great forward obstacle avoidance, long flight times, quick battery recharge, small and portable for a professional quality drone.

CONS

DJI GO app is having some lag issues, no reverse sensors, no vertical sensors, and a little trouble downloading firmware the first time.

Here is a little footage I took with the Mavic Pro. The video editing was only done with the DJI Go app.

MAVIC PRO FLIGHT CAPABILITIES

First I would like to start with talking about the flight response. Controller to drone response is amazing; the response time is instant. There is a beginner mode and a sport mode. Sport mode allows this DJI Mavic Pro fly at speeds up to 40 miles per hour, while beginner mode is slow and steady for first time drone users.  The Mavic Pro can reach distances up to 4.3 miles with DJI’s OcuSync transmission technology, but don’t worry about losing this drone because the fly home safe button will get you right back from where you took off. The DJI Mavic Pro will also return directly home when battery life is to low, another great feature!

The obstacle avoidance is pretty on point. It does not have reverse or vertical obstacle avoidance, so be careful when flying the Mavic backwards, along with above and below obstacles.  I flew the drone directly at myself to test the stopping power; it practically stops on a dime!  I wouldn’t recommend trying that at home.

Next I’d like to talk about the Mavics hands free following capabilities.  All you have to do is click the setting on the app, wave at the drone, and it’s in follow mode. It is very user friendly. If the Mavic is following you and another person crosses the drones line of site, the Mavic can get a little confused on who to follow.  I think DJI has recently made direction obstacle avoidance advancements on a couple of the later drones.  So far, other than the reverse follow and the lacking obstacle avoidance the Mavic’s proficiency is great quality. There are several user friendly settings in the DJI Go Fly applications for the Mavic that are pretty fantastic!
